East Side/Riverwest: Previews: Roast Coffee Barista Jam

Ryan at Roast Coffee company e-mailed me the following info about their upcoming Barista Jam:

"Wanted to let you know we’re having another Barista Jam at Roast Friday June 25th starting at 6ish.  We have coffees from Anodyne, Four Barrel, MadCap, Paradise Coffee Roasters, and PT’s Coffee.  Rishi is also giving us a case of their new chai to sample out.  

The Barista Jam will follow...We’ll be Throwing down around 7:30pm.  This throwdown will be a little different.  This will be a team event and you’ll be required to pour a heart, rosetta, tulip, and freestyle pour.  I did something similar at Octane Coffee in Atlanta and it was super fun.

Preview: What is Play?

This weekend, I'd like to again unite my posts with a theme: play.  This is an almost inexhaustible topic--just enter "define:play" into Google--but I won't even attempt to exhaust it. 

Rather, I want to focus on the idea of play as a respite from exhaustion.  This evening, I reconnected with Starbucks Gossip after a long time.  That site is all about the comments, and one left there made me laugh out loud at the end of a long week.  The topic is a little unsavory, so I'll let you find it for yourself in this thread if you are so inclined.

Preview: Music: U2 360 Tour at Soldier Field

Late this afternoon, I'll be heading down to Chicago's Soldier Field for tonight's U2 360 Tour concert.  On the way, I'll probably stop at Intelligentsia's Millenium Park location.  It'll be a late night, so I'll probably be investigating the coffee options when I get to the stadium, too.

Music: Preview: U2 360° Tour

Today, I secured my ticket for U2's 360° Tour performance at Chicago's Soldier Field on Sunday, September 13, 2009.  Interestingly, the previous night, September 12, marks the 17th anniversary of when I saw them at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.

While posting the excerpt from my Dad's e-mail, I checked out the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf location he mentioned.  Looks like it'll be a great place for me to hang out next month.
