Having just enjoyed a stay in Paris, I'm particularly touched by the current remembrance of Julia Child's birthday. Glancing at samples of her book My Life in France, I notice the clarity and conciseness of her writing, which was directed towards the average person. It's blessedly free of buzzwords such as "artisan" (I think I need to devote an entire therapy session to my phobia of that word) and connected supremely well with Child's audience.
