So far, I've gotten what I wanted this Christmas! Today presented an unbelievable opportunity to just walk around Milwaukee. Perhaps never has the city shone so much as it did to me tonight. I think it was largely the air quality: a long Christmas weekend topped off by a Packers-Bears game has taken almost all traffic off the roads. Also, I think much--if not most--of our air pollution comes from Chicagoland, right up Lake Michigan. (They could at least send us a few bucks while they're at it!) Another highlight was watching the ice skaters in Red Arrow Park. I defy you to show me a bad mood robust enough to withstand that! The quiet is also palpable--it's even quieter at my Brewers Hill area apartment than it usually is at my parents' house in Glendale. And how about this mild weather, at least when the wind's not howling? All told, I spent several hours on my feet today. Here's hoping for many more such nights in Milwaukee!
