On the United States of America's birthday, it's opportune to reflect on the qualities that have made this country great and how they continue to be lived out, even today. Yesterday, it was inspiring to go to The National and witness its executive chef/manager in action. I'm often critical of younger people, but she and the rest of the staff are an example of owning one's workspace. I sat in the cafe for perhaps half an hour, and was impressed the extremely professional and respectful manner in which she interacted with customers and a couple of suppliers who came in during that time.
